We
offer strategies to retrain the language area of the brain
and prescreenings for Dyslexia and Irlen Syndrome
(a.k.a. Scotopic SensitivitySyndrome)
David
Accola is a teen who has put together his own video about Irlen
Syndrome. Also the book Jamie and the Magic Glasses and more information
about Irlen syndrome can be found at www.irlen.com.
The
former MVLC has moved to 537 S. 3rd St., Jefferson OR, 97352.
It is now called "The Joan Craig Center". The change
became effective June 1, 2007.
Phone number or 541-327-1363.
The move was necessitated by the desire to go back to my roots
in Jefferson and to have more quality time with my family.
I am still offering assessments: (Academic, Dyslexic and Irlen
Scotopic Syndrome). Tutoring one to one will be twice a week on
Tues. and Thurs. or by appointment. New this year will be the
availability of workshops and speeches. Please book workshops
and speeches 2 months in advance.
It is important to get help with Dyslexia in the early learning
years, the longer you wait, the more the student gets discouraged,
frustrated, anxious, and may want to drop out of school.
At the Joan Craig Center, I will teach you and your student the
tools and techniques that change the brain thereby making learning
easier and promoting self-confidence and happiness for both the
student and the parent.
Thank you for your understanding in our change of address and
please call with any questions.
Do
you have a bright child who struggles with reading, writing or
math? Dyslexia and Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome affect about
15-20 % of the population. Mid-Valley Learning Center uses proven,
intensive, and well-researched techniques in one-on-one programs.
We help these frustrated children turn their lives around.
Just The Facts About
Dyslexia
Spelling
and Reading—Is there a correlation between being able to read
and being able spell?
Almost
all people with dyslexia have great difficulty with spelling.
Memorizing a list for a weekly spelling test may be workable,
but the same word which must be used in a sentence later in
the week may show transposition of letters, reversals, and processing
problems.
